This is the story of champion Aisha Mohammed, who hails from a town called Ulhasnagar in the Thane district of Maharashtra. Aisha’s carrom journey began when she was just seven years old. Her father bought her a carrom board because in their town, carrom was known to be a game for and dominated by men.
When Aisha was eight years old, she participated in a carrom tournament, which she lost but it opened a new door for her career and she knew that was where her heart was. Her game only went uphill after that. In the year 2003-04, Aisha won the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Award, Maharashtra’s highest sports award.
The carrom board game, along with being Aisha’s career and passion, also introduced her to the love of her life. She met her partner at a carrom tournament and they got married later.
Now Aisha works at Jain Irrigation Systems Limited and also teaches kids like her younger self to play carrom.
Aisha’s story is a perfect example of following your passion and giving back to society once you have mastered your skill. It’s never too early or too late to listen to your heart and do the things you love!
