A. Maria Irudayam is the only Indian carrom player to have won the prestigious Arjuna awards in 1996. Moreover, he has won the Senior National and International State Championships 9 times and has won four titles in a row in 1987, 1989, 1991, and 1992.
Maximum National Titles Won By A Player (Women)
P. Nirmala has claimed the women’s singles title 6 times in the Senior National and Interstate Championships which includes a hat-trick. She’s held the title in 1993, 1994, 1996, 2000 and 2006.
Maximum Number of Slams In A National Championship
The Senior national and interstate championship held at Nagpur in the year 1999 witnessed the maximum number of slams ever scored at a single event stood with seventy slams being scored.
Maximum Number of Slams Scored By An individual Player In A National Championship
M. Nataraj has scored a total of 9 slams in the year 1998 at the inter-institution National Championship in Thiruvananthapuram.
Maximum Slams Scored By a Player In An International Tournament
Nagsen Etambe scored a total of 7 slams in the year 1997 at the ICF tournament held in the UK. Two other players Mahender Tambe and D. Kubendra Babu scored 7 slams each in the year 2003 at the 2nd US Open International Carrom Tournament held at Atlantic City, USA.
